Sample Preparation Systems

Sample preparation devices from Micromeritics can be used for preparing samples for surface area and pore volume analysis. The devices integrate heat with the flowing gas and/or vacuum to remove atmospheric contaminants, like adsorbed gas and water vapor, from the pores and surface of the sample.

The cleanliness of the sample surface largely governs the quality of data generated by surface area and pore volume analysis. All sample preparation systems from Micromeritics accept argon, helium, nitrogen and other non-corrosive gases.

Smart VacPrep

Gas Adsorption Sample Preparation Device

The Smart VacPrep is a sophisticated six-port gas adsorption sample preparation device that uses vacuum to prepare samples by heating and evacuation. Every port can be operated independently. Samples can be added and removed without disrupting the treatment of other samples being prepared. Degassing is automatically terminated when all the programmed steps have been completed by the samples.

VacPrep™ 061

Gas Adsorption Sample Preparation Device

The VacPrep™ 061 provides dual methods of contamination removal. Apart from flowing gas, the device delivers vacuum to prepare samples through heating and evacuation. This combination enables users to select the most optimal method according to their application or material.

The VacPrep includes six degassing stations and each of these stations include an option of vacuum or gas flow preparation. Needle valves integrated into the device also enable users to introduce the vacuum or flowing gas to prevent the fluidization of samples.

FlowPrep™ 060

Gas Adsorption Sample Preparation Device

The FlowPrep™ 060 device can apply heat as well as a stream of inert gas to the sample. While the heat causes the contaminants to desorb from the surface, the stream of inert gas removes them from the sample tube.

The device allows users to select the gas, temperature and flow rate that are best suited to their application and material. Through the needle valves, users can gradually introduce the flowing gas to prevent the fluidization of samples.

The MicroPrep

Gas Adsorption Sample Preparation Device

The MicroPrep is meant for use with the ASAP 2060. It enables in-situ degassing of micropore samples to make sure that the sample is extensively cleaned of any adsorbed contaminants before analysis. The device is equipped with a high-quality digital control unit to regulate the temperature of the heating mantle to the required set-point temperature.

The Model 021 LN2

Gas Adsorption Sample Preparation Device

The Model 021 LN2 Transfer System enables users to transfer liquid argon or liquid nitrogen from a non-pressurized storage Dewar into smaller containers as required in laboratory experiments. The system has been particularly developed to facilitate the filling of Dewars for gas adsorption instruments but it can also be utilized for other cryogenic applications.

The Model 021 can release cryogens at modifiable rates of up to 3 L/minute. Thanks to the roller base, the system can easily be moved to the site where cryogen is required. The convenient filling and refilling of Dewars are enabled by the nozzle and an insulated flexible hose. The Model 021 can store liquid argon or nitrogen for up to 30 days, enabling cost-efficient usage of cryogen.
