SMP12 Pyranometer: Class A Integrated Dome Heating

The latest SMP12 is the industry’s first quick response spectrally flat Class A pyranometer. It merges solid-state dome heating with no moving parts and the finest surge protection to improve precision and reduce maintenance.

The RaZON+ PH1 and PR1 radiometers’ established sensor and diffuser technology are combined with an upgraded version of the Smart interface and the low maintenance of the SMP10.

If the housing is not opened, the SMP12 contains an integrated drying cartridge that can last at least 10 years. Doing so cuts down on maintenance even more.

Additional features on the basis of customer feedback are:

  • Tilt sensor for remote checks to see if the pyranometer mounting alignment has been disturbed.
  • Internal humidity monitor to offer confidence that the sealing has not been compromised, for instance, by an accidental impact.

The SMP12 includes a two-wire RS-485 Modbus® RTU interface, but no analog output, unlike the other SMP versions. The thermopile detector’s properties allow for a turnaround time of less than half a second. Installation into solar energy plant performance monitoring stations is simple, thanks to the wide power supply range of 10 to 30 VDC.

Electrical protection on the SMP12 is class-leading, with two-stage surge and reverse polarity protection on the power input and three-stage surge protection on the RS-485 data lines.

The calibrated sensitivity is retained in memory, as it is with other SMP range pyranometers, and the Modbus® irradiance value is instantly in W/m2. No adjustments to the plant monitoring data logger or SCADA system are required when pyranometers are switched or realigned.

Data logging on a PC, data display, altering RS-485 communication settings, configuring the Modbus® address and more are all available with SmartExplorer WindowsTM software. SmartExplorer is available for download.

This will also include the RT1. DustIQ and Lufft fully-featured weather stations are also functional. Internal batteries, external DC power or a solar panel can all be used to power the LOGBOX SE.
Smart Powered Hub and Smart Hub The Smart Hub is a passive 6 to 1 weatherproof hub for two-wire RS-485 connections. A massive 2.2 A power supply is included with the Smart Powered Hub.
Fixed Feet for Tilted CMP/SMP6-22 Mounting POA pyranometers may be easily installed with this kit, which includes two fixed feet.
PMU485 Smart Setup Hub The PMU485 serves as a power generator as well as a data link between a Smart Kipp & Zonen device and a computer.
