Makino Uses Alicona’s InfiniteFocus Optical 3D Surface Measurement Solution for Quality Verification

This video shows John Bradford, Micromachining R&D Team Leader at Makino, describing how Alicona’s Infinite Focus technology is used by Makino to obtain highly comprehensive information in a 3D perspective. Makino, specializing in sophisticated manufacturing machine tool technology, employs Alicona’s Infinite Focus technology to obtain highly comprehensive information in a 3D perspective.

Users benefit from a surface roughness measurement device and a 3D micro coordinate measurement machine integrated into a single system. Traceable and repeatability measurement results can be achieved, with a vertical resolution of up to 10 nm. The rugged measurement principle of Focus Variation in tandem with a vibration-isolating hardware allows the form and roughness measurement of even large and bulky components. The InfiniteFocus, with an automation interface, is also used for fully automatic measurement in production.
