Bayer MaterialScience Features Latest Advances in Five Coating Technologies at WoC 2011

Concrete and masonry professionals are again descending on Las Vegas for the industry’s only annual international event, World of Concrete (WoC), with exhibits taking place January 18 – 21.

Attendees are invited to stop by the Bayer MaterialScience LLC booth, S12427, in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, to see firsthand the latest advances in five coatings technologies – waterborne, UV-cure, graffiti-resistant, polyaspartic and self-leveling coatings. Here’s a preview:

Visitors can learn about Bayer MaterialScience LLC’s raw materials for waterborne coatings that offer low- to no-volatile organic compounds (VOCs), an adjustable gloss level and high abrasion and chemical resistance. These coatings offer the rigorous performance requirements of traditional solventborne polyurethane coatings, while meeting environmental regulations.

UV-cure coatings based on Bayer MaterialScience LLC’s technology encompass both waterborne and 100 percent solids formulations. Visitors to the booth can learn about UV-cure coatings’ extremely fast cure time, which translates into a quick return to service, and their excellent abrasion and chemical resistance.

Also featured at Bayer MaterialScience LLC’s booth are raw materials for graffiti-resistant coatings. These coatings are durable and non-sacrificial, protecting the surface while reducing graffiti-related maintentance costs by eliminating re-coating costs. They offer adjustable gloss and are weather-stable, maintining their color and finish. They are available as two-component waterborne polyurethane coatings for virtually all vertical structures.

Applicators looking to extend their construction season will appreciate polyaspartic coatings based on Bayer MaterialScience LLC’s technology. Providing a high-film build and requiring fewer coats, these coatings enhance productivity. Furthermore, their ability to be applied at lower temperatures translates into a longer construction season. They also will find tough sealants built on Bayer MaterialScience LLC’s polyaspartic technology easy to apply at lower temperatures.

Attendees interested in seamless floors need look no further than self-leveling coatings based on Bayer MaterialScience LLC’s Desmophen® 1150 polyester resin and Desmodur® VL technologies. Innovative self-leveling coatings are a bio-based solution for a floor that’s durable, flexible and sealed. They offer a seamless, more antiseptic floor where desired – filling all cracks and spalled areas – to remove sanctuaries where dangerous organisms such as staph may lurk.
