Axson Technologies has announced that it will display a sample of its independent heating tool meant for prepregs outside the autoclave at the JEC Europe 2012 exhibition, which will be held from 27 to 29 March, 2012.
This heating tool forms a vacuum and makes prepreg parts for heating outside the autoclave. It comprises a stiff moulded component in 2092 Axson epoxy infused metal or carbon and also features a stretchable heating counter-mould in the precise shape of the company’s SVB20 silicone part. Sandwich parts can be created through thermal insulation, when the two parts of the mould are heated. Huge moulds can be fabricated as this tooling can be used independently.
Axson Technologies’ Vice President, P.Blosse stated that the company has developed a system that incorporates heating, sealing and vacuum system. In fact, the tool’s flexible part is also heated. Hence, the autoclave can be replaced with this tool, saving significant amount of energy and time. The new system can be used in many applications, specifically in the wind turbine field. Studies are being conducted to produce tooling for wind turbine blades.
Additionally, the company is introducing new polyurethane adhesives range that is specifically designed to bond plastics and composites used in industrial applications. The adhesive offers uneven adhesion of the plastics and composites. Surface preparation is not necessary for this adhesive, and therefore optimizes working conditions and manufacturing methods.
The products’ final properties allow the combination of different materials, through the absorption of dilation coefficients and retention of performance features that ensure the power of structural assemblies.
The new adhesive range can be utilized in automobile assembly lines, in pleasure boats assembly, and in the wind turbine field to assemble structural components.
