Alicona Focus Variation Technology - The Most Advanced Measurement Solution in Micro-Metrology

The latest release of products from Alicona offers the most advanced measurement solutions for use in Micro-Metrology.

The systems, all based on the FocusVariation technology developed by Alicona, offer significant advantages over both probing and tactile techniques and other optical techniques available.

These 5th Generation products have built on the success of previous models, and, whilst still offering the advantages in measurement capability are now significantly quicker in terms of scanning and processing speeds.

The advantages of the technology used are established under the general heading of the ability to measure both form and finish with a single instrument, with a single data capturing process. This measuring principle can be used on most materials machined by most micro techniques such as EDM, Laser Drilling, and Micro Machining etc.

The use of an enhanced LED ring light further enhances the capability by allowing illumination from any direction on complex surfaces/structures. New automated advanced real3D also provide the measurement of complex shapes from different angles, this will allow, for the first time, full high resolution 3D reconstruction of complex geometries.

As with all Alicona products steep flanks can be easily reconstructed and measured, the measureable slope angle at >850 is higher than any other optical process available. This, combined with very high measurement data point density allows very accurate measurement on all surfaces irrespective of shape and geometry.

Optical measurements provided by InfiniteFocus are produced quickly and intuitively via the GUI.  All surface features and finish are controlled by the intuitive user interface allowing measurement parameters to be set automatically. The instruments are almost maintenance-free, easy to install and do not require a controlled environments to operate.

The recommended instrument for micro engineering applications is the InfiniteFocus G5; multiple objectives managed by a motorized objective revolver allow seamless increase in resolution capabilities. This allows even the smallest feature to be measured easily.
