GREENYARN, Robin Low, Director

AZoM conducted a series of interviews at the 2007 MRS Fall Meeting in Boston between November 27 and 29. Here's what one of the exhibitors had to say when asked about their latest developments, products and technologies.

Greenyarn manufacture yarns that have bamboo charcoal nanoparticles embedded within them. Yarns include rayon, polyester and nylon, often from renewable sources.

These yarns are have been used to manufacture commercially available items such as pants, coats, socks, undergarments and shoes, which all take advantage of the antibacterial, deodorizing and non-static electricity generating properties afforded by the incorporation of the bamboo charcoal nanoparticles.

"Fabrics and products manufactured by Greenyarn are based on renewable, sustainable resources and offer antibacterial and deodorizing properties, while retaining all the benefits provided by the base materials."
