Introduction

Aluminium bronze is an alloy consisting of about 6% of nickel and iron and 9 to 12% of aluminium. It has high wear and corrosion resistance, and high strength. The UNS C62300 copper alloy has good corrosion and acid resistance.

Fabrication and Heat Treatment

Machinability

The machinability rating of the UNS C62300 copper alloy is 50.

Welding

The UNS C62300 copper alloy can be welded using seam welding, gas shielded arc welding, coated metal arc welding, spot welding, brazing, and butt welding methods. Soldering and oxyacetylene welding are not preferred for this alloy.

Forging

The UNS C62300 copper alloy can be forged at temperatures ranging from 705 to 872°C (1300 to 1600°F). The hot forgeability rating of this alloy is 75.

Hot Working

The UNS C62300 copper alloy has good hot forming capacity.

Cold Working

UNS C62300 also has good cold working capacity.

Annealing

The UNS C62300 copper alloy can be annealed at temperatures ranging from 594 to 649°C (1100 to 1200°F).

Applications

UNS C62300 is mainly used in valve and pump components for industrial process streams, high strength fasteners, marine equipment, and pole line hardware.
