Introduction

UNS C97600 alloy is a leaded nickel bronze copper alloy. Other types of bronze alloys include phosphor bronze, tin bronze, aluminum bronze, silicon bronze, architectural bronze and manganese bronze.

Fabrication and Heat Treatment

Welding

Welding processes suitable for UNS C97600 are brazing and soldering. Welding processes not suitable for this alloy include coated metal arc welding, oxyacetylene welding, gas shielded arc welding and carbon arc welding.

Machinability

The machinability rating of UNS C97600 alloy is 70.

Heat Treatment

UNS C97600 alloy has stress relieving temperature of 500 F or 260 C. This alloy does not react to heat treatment. The time at temperature for this alloy is one hour per inch of section thickness.

Applications

UNS C97600 alloy is used in pumps, marine castings, valves, ornamental hardware and sanitary fittings.
