Introduction

Fabrication

Machinability: The machinability rating of this alloy is 20.

Welding Methods: Soldering, brazing and butt welding. However, other methods such as oxyacetylene welding, coated metal arc welding and spot welding are not recommended.

Forging - Copper UNS C11500 alloy has good forging ability. The hot forging rating of the alloy is 65. The recommended hot working temperature is 1400 to 1600 F.

Hot working - Copper UNS C11500 alloy has excellent hot working abilities.

Cold working - Copper UNS C11500 alloy has excellent cold working properties.

Annealing: The annealing temperature for this alloy is between 900 and 1400 F.

Applications

Copper UNS C11500 is used in the following applications:

  • Automotive – radiator and heat exchanger fins
  • Electrical – terminals, generator coils, windings, bus bars
  • Industrial – clad metals, printing rolls, casting mold.
