Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) – Extreme Sensitivity (15 nemu) and Speed

Advanced Measurement Performance

The 8600 Series VSM raises the standards for magnetometer convenience and performance.

These VSMs combine rapid measurement speed (10 ms/pt), high sensitivity (15 nemu), and simple operation in order to obtain accurate, faster measurements.

Convenient Operation

The complete 8600 Series system has been reimagined with a focus on an ergonomic, clean design that enables simplifying the researcher’s interaction with the system. A motorized head brings the sample to a comfortable height for easy, one-handed exchange of the QuickLIGN™ sample rods.

Temperature options include a single stage variable temperature insert, high-temperature oven, and a cryostat. The combined temperature range of the options is 4.2 K to 1273 K. All three GlideLOCK™ options rapidly slide into place and are also auto-detected. Controls for the particular option are automatically displayed by the software.

The ExactGAP™ indexed positioning system enables the magnet poles to be easily adjusted, and allows the pole gap to be set at one of six repeatable positions, eliminating the requirement to recalibrate after every single change.

Designed for FORC

This VSM was developed with first order reversal curve (FORC) measurement as a key objective. The high sensitivity of the 8600 Series VSM helps to improve FORC analysis. FORC also benefits from increased data point density, and also from the new VSM flies through complex FORC data collection sequences in a fraction of the time needed on earlier systems.

Flexible and Adaptable

Control of the VSM is simplified by the system’s software. A flexible data acquisition environment is provided by combining standard predefined measurement routines with configurable field and measurement loops. The software also features an integrated scripting tool, which enables the user to extend the existing routines with an open-ended software scripting language that is suitable to execute customized measurement protocols and interface with third-party lab equipment.
