Researchers at the University of Warwick will be appearing on the BBC's Blue Peter show on Tuesday 13th October to demonstrate their eco friendly "WorldFirst Formula 3 racing car" which can be powered by chocolate, steered by carrots, and as bodywork made partly from potatoes.

They will be seen surprising the Blue Peter presenters with specially made high tech Blue Peter badges which use the same eco friendly materials as the racing car. Viewers will see the researchers give the presenters two high tech eco friendly versions of Blue Peter Badges, one type made from carbon fibre recycled from old racing car parts, and another made from natural fibres (Flax) using the same processes used to produce natural fibre based body parts for the eco friendly racing car.

The presentation of the badges is particularly apt as this weekend (17th and 18th October) the University of Warwick researchers will be racing their car at Brands Hatch and Brands Hatch is one of the places Blue Peter badge winners can use their Blue Peter Badges and badge cards to get free entry to Brands Hatch.

The show will be transmitted at 4.35 pm on BBC1 On Tuesday 13th October.
