Posted in | Aerospace Materials | Business | Composites

Goodrich Corporation (NYSE: GR) has chosen Composite Technology Research of Malaysia (CTRM) as a recipient of the Goodrich Strategic Supplier Award, which recognizes excellence in the supply chain. CTRM received the award for exceptional quality and delivery performance in providing composite components for the Goodrich Aerostructures business, as well as its participation in continuous improvement activities.

Dan Pleshko, chief supply chain officer for Goodrich, presented the award to CTRM during a visit to the company's headquarters in Melaka, Malaysia. "CTRM has been a strategic supplier to our Aerostructures business unit since 2003 and we look forward to working with the company for many more years," said Pleshko. "They share with us a common pursuit of excellence through the disciplined application of the lean principles of the Toyota Production System and the Goodrich continuous improvement philosophy."

Tim Martin, director of materiel and supply chain for Goodrich's Aerostructures business, said, "We recently decided to make CTRM a center of excellence for some large composite component production. That designation, as well as their receipt of the Goodrich Strategic Supplier award, demonstrates our confidence in CTRM."

Goodrich has provided in-depth training in lean principles at CTRM's manufacturing sites, and works closely with the company to advance its lean implementation.

The Goodrich Strategic Supplier Award recognizes suppliers that demonstrate outstanding quality at required delivery schedules, a commitment to customer satisfaction, and adoption of lean operating principles and continuous improvement.

Composites Technology Research Malaysia Sdn Bhd was incorporated in November 1990 with the Malaysian Ministry of Finance, Incorporated as its principle shareholder. CTRM is entrusted with a strategic role to develop a high technology-based industry in the areas of aerospace and composite technologies. The government identified these two industries as the most crucial constituents to the future industrial growth for Malaysia.
