Malvern Instruments has confirmed that in the nine months since its launch, sales of the company’s Mastersizer 2000E entry-level particle size analyzer have exceeded expectations. The system is proving highly popular in the area of bulk materials, for which it is primarily intended, and in the academic arena.

The Mastersizer 2000E is designed as an entry-level system for customers who do not immediately require the full specification of the company’s flagship Mastersizer 2000 laser diffraction system, but who would nevertheless like the option to upgrade as their needs develop.

The Mastersizer 2000E measures particle size from 0.1 to 1000 microns without the need for any changes to the optical configuration. A range of semi-automated sample dispersion accessories covers the analysis of a wide variety of sample types, both wet and dry. The system is upgradeable to the full Mastersizer 2000 specification, a process that can be carried out on-site at any time.

A key feature of the Mastersizer 2000 is its powerful Window’s-based software, a simple gateway that allows access to all of the systems functions and extensive analytical capabilities . The Mastersizer 2000E benefits from similar software support, providing ease of data interpretation and processing as well as help with SOP support and method definition.
