Dofasco to Produce Polymer Laminated Sheet Metal Under New Arrangement

North American steel manufacturer Dofasco have formed an agreement with Continuous Colour Coat Limited to manufacture, market and sell an innovative polymer laminate sheet metal.

Polymer laminate sheet metal is produced by attaching a continuous polymer film to a sheet metal substrate using heat and pressure. This can produce products with highly decorative patterns and textures not available using more conventional coating techniques.

Polymer laminate sheet metal can be produced with finishes that replicate stainless steel, brass, woodgrain, marble and granite. It can also be made with high gloss and anti fingerprint surfaces, while the polymer coating also improves corrosion resistance and can be tailor made for specific applications.

Applications for the polymer laminate sheet metal include appliance finishes, residential doors, office furniture and partitions and cladding.

Under the terms of the agreement, Continuous Colour Coat will apply the polymer laminate to sheet steel provided by Dofasco. Dofasco will market and sell the polymer laminated coils.
