Ausmelt Expands in Copper Smelting Service in Namibia

Ausmelt Ltd has signed an updated Licence Agreement with Namibia Custom Smelters Pty Ltd to enable the use of the existing Ausmelt furnace at the Tsumeb smelter complex for the processing of copper bearing concentrates and reverts.

Ausmelt has also agreed to supply a new control system for the smelter.

Namibia Custom Smelters is seeking to expand its copper smelting operations in Namibia by making use of the existing Ausmelt furnace for copper production. This furnace was originally operated for lead production when it was started up in 1997. The application of this furnace for
copper smelting again demonstrates the inherent flexibility of Ausmelt’s top submerged lance (TSL) smelting technology.
