New Pigment Dispersing Additives for Waterborne Coating and Ink Applications from Air Products

Air Products introduced four new ZetaSperse® pigment dispersing additives for waterborne coating and ink applications. Meeting customer requests for problem-solving additives with high-performance and problematic pigments, these new ZetaSperse dispersing additives have been designed to combat viscosity build, color drift, flocculation and other challenges faced by dispersion formulators.

These new low-VOC and APE-free ZetaSperse pigment dispersing additives are optimized for superior performance with a variety of unique applications, depending on the type of pigment. They provide excellent dispersion stability and are specifically designed for use in water-based systems.

  • ZetaSperse 2500 Additive: Offering robust dispersion viscosity stability, this product is excellent with problematic pigments, such as metal salt reds and other organic pigment types prone to dispersion rheology challenges.
  • ZetaSperse 3100 Additive: An easy-to-use dispersant for carbon black pigments, it offers a unique combination of chemistries that provide broad utility, robust stability, and compatibility across the wide range of carbon black pigment grades.
  • ZetaSperse 3400 Additive: Designed for the particular challenges of dispersing quinacridone, perylene and similar pigment chemistries, this product offers the correct combination of pigment affinity and stabilization to achieve high-quality dispersions with optimal color development, superior color and viscosity stability, and letdown compatibility.
  • ZetaSperse 3700 Additive: Designed for the particular challenges of dispersing DPP, azo, and phthalocyanine pigment chemistries, this product offers the correct combination of pigment affinity and stabilization to achieve high-quality dispersions with optimal color development, superior color and viscosity stability, and letdown compatibility.

“To meet our customers’ needs, Air Products has developed optimized pigment dispersing additives designed to address the challenges of high-performance and problematic pigment chemistries and provide superior technical solutions,” said David Moss, marketing manager for Air Products.
