Collins & Aikman Corporation announced it has recently secured the manufacturing, assembly & sequencing business for the front and rear painted fascias of a future, high volume DaimlerChrysler vehicle platform. Terms of the award were not disclosed. Over the course of the multi-year contract, Collins & Aikman will utilise its proprietary Intelliquence™logistics technology to deliver just-in-time, sequenced front and rear fascia modules to DaimlerChrysler for final assembly.

Additional DaimlerChrysler business awarded during the quarter included multi-million dollar contracts to supply various exterior and interior trim components for future truck and sport utility vehicles. Terms of the awards were not disclosed.
Although Collins & Aikman is best known for its automotive interior capabilities, the ability to globally deliver exterior components and sequence both interior and exterior automotive system assemblies continues to provide growth opportunities for the Company. Collins & Aikman’s exterior products include painted and moulded-in-colour fascias, mouldings and cladding, wheel well flares, sills and exterior signal lighting.
