Sandvik Steel Set for Reorganisation

Owing to unsatisfactory profitability, Sandvik Steel is taking further measures to remedy the situation. The next stage of redevlopment will involve a review of the organisational structure at the main Sandviken facility.

Changes that are scheduled to take place are aimed at reducing costs, improving efficiency and increasing flexibility. These should result in a capacity utilisation increase of 20%.

As a consequence of the review, the number of salaried employees at the facility will decrease by 140. Other wage-earning employees that have an administrative based position may also be affected.

Sandvik has notified unions and begun negotiations with them as well as the county employment board.

Sandvik has taken these measures to try and reach profitability goals and ensure the long-term positive development of the company.
