Supplier of specialty chemicals and high-performance materials, Solutia proclaimed that Rhein Chemie has acquired its Vocal and Santoweb operations for an undisclosed amount. Rhein Chemie is a 100% subsidiary of LANXESS, a specialty chemicals firm located in Germany.
According to Greta Senn, President and General Manager of Technical Specialties unit of Solutia, the sale is part of Solutia’s strategy to concentrate on its Flexsys range of high-value rubber chemicals. Revenues from Vocal and Santoweb businesses provided less than 0.5% of Solutia’s total sales in fiscal 2010.
The Technical Specialties business of Solutia provides sophisticated specialty products and chemicals that fulfill or surpass stringent standards. It is one the major manufacturers of specialty chemicals for the tire and rubber industries, and its products are delivered via a worldwide supply chain. Flexsys portfolio of products assists in controlling the rubber production process, while enhancing the aesthetic appeal, versatility and reliability of the products.
