Praxair (China) Investment, an industrial gas provider in China, has entered into a joint venture agreement and supply contracts with Chongqing Chemical and Pharmaceutical Holding Group Company (CCPHC) to deliver nitrogen, oxygen and clean dry air to an integrated chemical manufacturing complex in Western China. The complex is located at Chongqing (Changshou) Chemical Industrial Park.
Two air separation units will be constructed and operated by Praxair as a part of the joint venture. The units will have the capacity to produce 5,000 tons of gaseous oxygen per day. The facility will supply gaseous oxygen to the chemical production complex, connected with BASF methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) manufacturing plant, through a pipeline. MDI material is used for producing polyurethane for insulation and plastics for building and refrigeration. In addition, the new facility will deliver liquid nitrogen, argon and oxygen to the fastest growing market in China. The operation of the facility will start in 2014.
The Chongqing government has made investment to construct a world-class chemical park at Changshou Economic Development Zone.
