Corning to Feature Advanced-Flow G4 Ceramic Reactor at Chemspec

Corning SAS, a subsidiary of Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) of Corning, N.Y., announced today that it will feature the Corning Advanced-Flow G4 Ceramic Reactor at Chemspec Europe in Geneva, Switzerland, June 15-16, 2011. The Advanced-Flow G4 Ceramic Reactor is the company's newest reactor product and the first to use ceramic-based technology.

Corning's new ceramic reactor can provide significant performance benefits to chemical manufacturing through its exceptional combination of high flow throughput and thermal heat transfer. Corning's expertise in reactor technology design, in combination with Mersen / Boostec ceramic manufacturing, has made the development of this new product possible.

"We are very pleased to have the opportunity to collaborate with Mersen/Boostec, a leader in ceramic technologies, to bring this highly advantaged ceramic reactor to the chemical industry," said Sergio Pissavini, business director, Corning Reactor Technologies. "The chemical processing industry has increasing demand for more cost-effective, higher-purity, scalable methods for high volume production of pharmaceutical and specialty chemical products. With this unique combination of Corning design and Mersen/Boostec ceramics, we look forward to successfully addressing these important industry needs."

Comprised of sintered ceramic fluidic modules and based on the effective design of the Corning Advanced-Flow reactor product line, the new G4 reactor is well suited for industrial-scale chemical production. Its unique structure will enable simpler and more cost effective continuous-flow chemical processing for a wide variety of economically important reactions.
