SI Group, a manufacturer of alkylated phenols, alkylphenolic resins, phenolic resins, and other chemical intermediates, has planned to construct a new phenolic resin production facility at the Nanjing Chemical Industry Park (NCIP) in China with a $30 million investment.
Once completed, the facility will have an initial production capacity of 30,000 mt of phenolic resin per year. In future, expansion of the site will help to achieve production capacity of 70,000 mt annually.
The phenolic resins will be used in refractory, impregnation, friction, abrasive and rubber sectors. These resins will be manufactured in four different forms: powder, liquid, pastille and lump. The new Nanjing facility is expected to begin production in May 2013.
The new resin facility is a part of the company’s growth strategy in the Chinese market. SI Group has also planned to further increase phenolic resin production capacity in 2012. The company has recently opened a modern phenolic resin application laboratory at its site in Songjiang. A total of about $1,5 million investment has been made on this modern lab, which is recognized as the global standard for R&D of resin solutions. It also increases the company’s position as a leader in technology and innovation.
