Ramanath Ramakrishnan, executive vice president and chief technology officer for power management company Eaton, will address critical U.S. manufacturing and energy challenges at the American Energy and Manufacturing Competitiveness (AEMC) Summit on December 12 at the Ronald Reagan International Trade Center in Washington, D.C.
About 500 pre-eminent leaders from industry, government, academia, labor, and the national laboratories are expected to attend the summit, a first-of-its kind annual gathering dedicated to building momentum around American innovation, progress and competitiveness in energy and manufacturing.
Part of the American Energy and Manufacturing Competitiveness (AEMC) Partnership, the summit is hosted by the Council on Competitiveness and the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE).
Ramakrishnan will be participating on a panel titled “How to Compete in the Global Economy,” which will explore how, through strategic investments, partnership, innovation and vision, companies can remain competitive in the global marketplace. Dr. Patrick Gallagher, director of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and acting deputy U.S. Secretary of Commerce, will moderate the panel, which also includes Tom Werner, president and CEO of SunPower.
Other key speakers of the day include U.S. Secretary of Energy Ernest J. Moniz; Norman R. Augustine, former chairman and CEO of Lockheed Martin; and U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur of Ohio.
Ramakrishnan is responsible for the development of new and innovative technologies to help Eaton’s businesses create solutions for its customers’ power management challenges. He also focuses on building organizational capability in the company’s technology and engineering functions to support fast-paced development of innovative power management products and services.
He joined Eaton in 2005 as a director of corporate technology and most recently was senior vice president of technology for the Industrial Sector, where he led significant technology and innovation programs for Eaton’s Aerospace, Hydraulics and Vehicle businesses. Prior to that, he led the successful growth of Eaton’s India Engineering Center in Pune, India.
