Fire Retardant PC/ABS Copolymer

Bayer have recently released Bayblend FR 3030, a flame retardant copolymer blend of polycarbonate and acrylonitrile butadiene (PC/ABS). This new product sets new standards in fire protection in fields such as electrical and telecommunications equipment as well as public transport.

Bayblend FR 3030 has excellent forming properties enabling it to be used for making all kinds of profiles via processes such as extrusion and blow moulding.

Baybelnd FR 3030 is also listed as UL94 V-0, complying with fire prevention standards for electrical, construction and transport industries. Emissions of toxic and acidic gases are lower then conventional materials. This could lead to reduced damage from corrosion and contamination.

It also complies with German cable standard DIN VDE 0472 Parts 813 and 815 as well as satisfying the requirements for TCO 99 and "Blue Angel" environmental symbols.

Other key properties include excellent UV stability, mechanical performance and heat resistance.
