Cryostats for Laboratory Sample Cooling

The Janis SHI-4 series cryostats are considered the most versatile systems available for laboratory sample cooling. These cryostats are fitted with interchangeable optics, and have provisions for a wide range of electrical connectors. A robust mounting flange and as tapped holes on the vacuum shroud ensures easy mounting in any orientation.

Standard Configuration

The Janis SHI-4 series cryostats are specifically designed for measurements to 325 K, and optional configurations enable operation to 500 K or 800 K (with special thermometry).

These systems are optimized for experiments requiring optical access to the sample, and include the following components:

  • Four o-ring sealed quartz windows
  • Optical vacuum shroud and radiation shield
  • 10-pin electrical feedthrough, with three spare electrical access ports
  • Gold-plated OFHC copper sample holder
  • Silicon diode thermometer and control heater
  • Safety pressure relief valve and evacuation valve
  • Easily removable window block with o-ring seal situated just above the windows (SHI-4-2 and SHI-4-5 systems only)
