Knife Mill GRINDOMIX GM 200

RETSCH’s knife mill GRINDOMIX GM 200 is a suitable instrument for grinding and homogenizing feeds and foods. With two sharp, strong blades and a robust 1000 W motor, the GM 200 allows the processing of sample volumes up to 0.7 L both speedily and efficiently.

The GM 200 is not only suitable for homogenizing substances with high oil, water or fat content but is also seamlessly matched for grinding soft, dry and medium-hard products. The fast homogenization process without significant temperature rise guarantees the preservation of volatile sample constituents.

Owing to the reproducible setting of programs, parameters and sequences, this mill guarantees analytical outcomes with the least standard deviation. These features along with the broad selection of containers and lids allow for adaptation of the mill to separate application requirements, thus making the GRINDOMIX GM 200 a superior professional device to other commercial household mixers.

Cryogenic Grinding with Dry Ice

A Cryokit is available to process elastic or tough materials that cannot be homogenized at ambient temperature, thus ensuring efficient and safe grinding with dry ice. It comprises three components:

Cryo Lid

The lower part is composed of stainless steel, the side openings permit evaporation of CO2 when cryogenic grinding is taking place, and the upper part is the standard PP lid.

Stainless Steel Container with Baffles

The baffles provide complete mixing of the sample.

Full Metal Knife

This knife has four blades, which is necessary for cryogenic grinding. It is also ideal for cutting hard samples.

Easy and Safe Operation

The GM 200 is fitted with a 4.3″ touch display providing SOP storage, easy parameter setting and direct access to the MyRETSCH web portal via QR code. Eight standard operating procedures and four program cycles can be stored for standard operations. Before and after the grinding process, the inserted knife, container with its lid and sample can be set up and removed as a whole unit.

Gravity Lid Enables Variable Volume of the Grinding Chamber

RETSCH has created a gravity lid for the GRINDOMIX knife mills, which decreases the volume of the grinding container, stopping the sample from escaping the homogenization process by adhering to the container walls.

The lid drops under its own weight while grinding takes place and rests directly on the sample at all times. The result is total homogenization of the whole sample material. The gravity lid is also provided with overflow channels. It guarantees that the cell liquid discharged by the sample when grinding takes place is returned via these channels to the center of the container, allowing for excellent homogenization.

Accessories and Options

A range of varied lids, containers and knives makes the GRINDOMIX GM 200 a totally universal device, ideal not only for processing food and feed samples but also for a variety of materials.

Patented Gravity Lid

Automatically modifies the grinding chamber volume according to the changing sample volume.

Gravity Lid with Overflow Channels

It is suited for homogenizing samples that have high water content.

Stainless Steel Container

When hard sample materials are processed, there is only minimal wear.

Stainless Steel Container with Baffles

The baffles help achieve proper mixing of the sample.

Reduction Lid

Reduces the chamber volume to 0.5 or 0.3 L for ideal homogenization of small sample volumes.

Serrated Blade Knife

Used mainly for tough samples, such as fatty, streaky meat.

Full Metal Knife

With four blades, it is ideal for cold grinding and cutting hard samples.

Typical Sample Materials

RETSCH knife mills are ideal for a variety of applications. Usual materials include cereals, candy, cheese, cocoa nibs, dietary supplements, pharmaceutical products, coated tablets, lettuce, oilseeds, vegetables dried and fresh fruit, fish, spices, frozen products, ham, feed pellets, meat, nuts, plant materials, sausages, soap, etc.

Functional Principle

Two sharp, strong blades rotate in the middle of the grinding container. based on the rotational direction, size reduction is realized with the blunt side (initial size reduction) or the sharp side (fine grinding).

The knife is straightaway driven by a robust motor of 1000 W. A pre-selectable speed which is sustained electronically guarantees ideal adaptation to separate application requirements as well as reproducible grinding outcomes.
