Thermo Scientific™ EMS-10™ Continuous Emissions Monitoring System

The Thermo Scientific™ EMS-10™ Continuous Emissions Monitoring System is a four-channel stack emission monitoring system that is completely automated and suited for use with hot wet samples.

Using Thermo Scientific StarBoost™ Technology and sophisticated FTIR spectral analysis, the EMS-10 system can quantify 10-100+ compounds down to single-digit ppb while keeping short cycle times. This makes the EMS-10 an ideal alternative to traditional gas chromatograph-based systems that are typically slower, less sensitive, and more costly to maintain.

The EMS-10 is designed to perform as a continuous emissions monitor with minimal user input, including dynamic alerting features, user-definable sequencing that can vary by time of day, remote monitoring, and standard data publishing and reporting. Depending on the particular requirements, various enclosure options are available to enable a factory-ready solution.

All gases, including the sample stream, zero gas, and calibration gas, are fully controlled by the integrated design through software that can be accessed through the large front panel touchscreen or keyboard. This system is perfect for analyzing gas streams for contaminants, hazardous air pollutants, and composition wherever necessary.

EMS-10 Continuous Emission Monitoring System Features

  • All sample, calibration gas, and nitrogen connections are aligned on the rear of the system for quick coupling.
  • Additional cabinet space for user integration of heated line controllers.
  • Designed specifically for hot and wet samples.
  • Designed to operate for 10+ years with minimal maintenance, the system’s FTIR analyzer is factory-calibrated and operates continuously for its useful life without recalibration. If necessary, the system can accept calibration cylinders for auto-certification purposes (QA/QC) or generate new calibrations for new analytes.
  • Integrated design with heated automated sample multiplexer, industrial computer, and flexible I/O interface for easy factory integration.
  • Near real-time channel analysis using a 4-port multiplexer that incorporates sampling and bypass pumps to allow for continuous sample flow on all channels, a programmable logic controller (PLC), and a touchscreen human-machine interface (HMI).
  • Standard Modbus and optional digital/analog data publishing are available for seamless factory integration into existing infrastructure.
  • Thermo Scientific MAX-iR FTIR gas analyzer, allowing acquisition of the full mid-IR spectrum and quantification of nearly any organic or inorganic compound down to 10s of ppb in normal configuration and down to single digit ppb using Thermo Scientific StarBoost Technology.
  • User-friendly Thermo Scientific MAX-Acquisition Automation Software with a flexible Workflow function in the software directs each device within the system on a time basis.

Continuous Emission Monitoring System Uses

  • Engine Dyno Testing
  • EPA Compliant Source Emissions testing
  • Evaporative Emissions Testing
  • Point-of-Use Abatement Efficiency Monitoring
