Global Alumina Products Corp (GAPCO) have announced that they have agreed to acquire the world’s leading consulting group involved with the upstream aluminium industry, Aluminpro Aluminium Industry Professionals Inc.
GAPCO, who intend to produce alumina for sale to aluminium industry worldwide will gain access to Aluminpro’s expertise. They believe this will ensure that their Guinea alumina refinery will remain the lowest cost producer in the world. The refinery construction is due to start construction in the second quarter of 2005, with production due to commence in 2008.
Under the new ownership, Aluminpro will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary and continue to serve their clients. They will also however, serve on the Guinea project.
