3M Touch
Systems, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the 3M Company and a leading innovator
and manufacturer of touch technology, and ViewSonic® Corporation, a leading
global provider of visual display products, join in announcing today at the
2009 International CES that ViewSonic has selected the 3M MicroTouch DST Touch
System as the touch interface for its new commercial display, the CD4220T. The
ViewSonic CD4220T incorporates a visually-appealing industrial design with a
42” HDTV-ready display and DST touch screen to create an ideal interactive
solution for mall kiosks, building directories, hotel lobbies and training rooms.
“ViewSonic's selection of the DST touch interface adds to the growing
list of global display manufacturers who understand and value this product's
unique touch features for digital signage displays,” said Chris Tsourides,
business unit manager, 3M Touch Systems.
“The DST touch interface offers our display system integrators a reliable
and robust solution for their interactive signage applications,” said
Jeff Volpe, vice president and general manager of ViewSonic North America. “We
are pleased to offer our customers the first of several interactive digital
signage solutions with the introduction of the CD4220T.”
Best known for its superior performance in contaminant-prone, public environments,
the 3M MicroTouch DST Touch System offers ViewSonic display system integrators
important interactive signage components, such as an integrated system for aesthetic
display appearance and chemically-strengthened glass to help protect displays
in vandal-prone locations. The touch system features excellent light transmission
and minimized screen glare for optimal user viewing in brightly-lit areas, and
fast, accurate and responsive touch from hand or stylus, even with multiple
users touching the display.
The ViewSonic CD4220T delivers images at resolutions up to 1080i and 500 nits
of brightness, and also has a 1500:1 dynamic contrast ratio. Its 8ms response
time helps to deliver blur-free scrolling text and video, and its 1366x768 resolution
is optimal for PC use and provides crisp video and images. It contains RS-232
and VGA inputs / outputs, enabling connectivity to multiple displays on a network,
as well as HDMI, S-video, component, composite and PC RGB inputs.
The CD4220T is available immediately with an MSRP of $2,999 and will be on
display at Bellagio Ballroom 6 during the 2009 International Consumer Electronics
Show in Las Vegas, from January 8-9, 2009. For more information on ViewSonic
