The exclusive evening event was held at the Arburg exhibition stand and was attended by around 30 invited guests. In his welcoming speech, Michael Hehl, Managing Partner and Spokesperson for the Arburg Management, outlined the purpose of Arburg's energy efficiency award. "With this award, we annually show our appreciation for companies who, like us, take an innovative, holistic and international approach to the subject of energy efficiency and who stand out on account of their corporate philosophy and activities."

In his eulogy, Helmut Heinson, Managing Director Sales, explained Arburg's reasons for choosing Tyco Electronics as the recipient of the 2009 award: "The Arburg energy efficiency award is presented to the group for its activities under the banner of 'Reducing Environmental Impact on a Global Level'. Our award is a tribute to the targeted environmental strategy officially pursued by Tyco Electronics throughout the entire world." Key aspects mentioned included energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, water and waste waster consumption and material recycling. For example, the decision was made to carry out the appropriate measurements and to define global values and targets for the 2009 financial year. The measures include energy consumption audits and the implementation of numerous projects to reduce energy consumption at the company's sites throughout the world. Energy-efficient electric machines for the production of moulded parts contribute to this reduction.

It was explained that Tyco Electronics would invest solely in electric machines in the future, if production and application technologies allow. Accordingly, half of the 149 Arburg injection moulding machines supplied to production facilities in Europe and North and South America since 2006 have been electric Allrounder Alldrive models.

The topic of energy efficiency was rounded off with a speech by Thorsten Kühmann, Managing Director of the German Engineering Federation 's Plastics and Rubber Machinery Association. He explained the purpose of the Plastics and Rubber Machinery Association and complimented the Arburg team on their forward-thinking approach to energy efficiency and for the way in which they have consistently applied the principles of energy efficiency throughout their entire production. He said that, even in the German machine construction industry, which is renowned for energy efficiency and environmental protection, this is a unique achievement that has earned the company considerable respect.

At the end of the official part of the event, Michael Hehl presented the award to Marc Blöchle (Director Sales Industrial, Communications and Industrial Solutions, Tyco Electronics Corporation, Bensheim), who participated in the event together with Dieter Volk (Manager Purchasing/Advanced Purchasing, Communications and Industrial Solutions,Tyco Electronics Corporation,Bensheim) und Günther Hofmann (Managing Molding, Tyco Electronics AMP GmbH, Speyer).

Following the presentation, the guests stayed on to enjoy the hospitality on offer in the pleasant surroundings of the Arburg trade fair stand.
