Carl Zeiss Receives 2008 Thuringian Innovation Award for Development in Fluorescent Imaging

In recognition of the new standards it sets in fluorescent imaging, Carl Zeiss has been awarded the 2008 Thuringian Innovation Award for the LSM 710 Laser Scanning Microscope.

“Research conducted with multifluorescent-labeled living cells is of fundamental importance in the quest for a better understanding of the disease process,” explains Aubrey Lambert, Carl Zeiss UK. “With its unsurpassed sensitivity, precise optics and a host of other technological innovations focused on live cell imaging, the LSM 710 is a worthy recipient. It is also testament to the success of our multidisciplinary approach to innovative product design and development.”

This is the fourth time in the eleven years that the Competition has been running that Carl Zeiss has been selected to receive the Innovation Award, which is presented to highlight the significance of future-oriented innovations and design excellence for manufacturing companies and research institutes.

All areas of biological research will benefit from the LSM 710’s enhanced image quality, improved flexibility for experiments and new optical and technical details. Featuring outstanding sensitivity, the LSM 710 provides high-contrast, detailed images - even of complex specimens such as thick, living tissue samples. It’s new illumination and detection design provides absolute freedom in the selection and simultaneous imaging of up to ten fluorescence signals and the definite focus module maintains a constant focal plane throughout experiments to ensure that images are always in focus.
