Dow Corning is improving its portfolio of construction solutions and services to support the emerging demand of designing and developing modern, high-performance and eco-friendly buildings.

Saulo Rozendo, who serves as global strategic marketer of Construction Industry at Dow Corning, commented that construction of energy-saving, sustainable buildings needs the joint efforts of the construction and design industries. During the past four decades, Dow Corning’s silicone products have been the ultimate choice for building designers and architects for durable, eco-friendly building material solutions.

Dow Corning’s silicone-based concrete admixtures, water repellents, coatings and sealants are developed to strengthen and protect building materials in renovation and new construction projects. Silicone-based concrete admixtures are utilized for pretreatment of substrates to decrease water evaporation and thermal conductivity in materials.

Silicone-based water repellents are used to prevent water penetration into materials, reducing the requirement for building repairs, while sealants are utilized for weatherproofing and structural glazing purposes to improve the life and energy performance of the buildings. The sealants are three times more durable than organic sealants utilized for the same purposes. They remain flexible and tolerate common temperature limits and ultraviolet light effects.

When utilized with other building materials, Dow Corning silicone products can add to a building’s LEED credits as controlled by the U.S. Green Building Council. The company also offers industry experts with design tools, technical knowledge, product information and other resources to form complete building system solutions.
