OE-A Debuts New Edition of Roadmap for Organic and Printed Electronics

The OE-A is debuting the new, fifth edition of the “OE-A Roadmap for Organic and Printed Electronics” as well as numerous new demonstrators at LOPE-C in Munich, Germany from June 11 to 13, 2013. The OE-A Roadmap illustrates the status and trends of applications and technologies. The new OE-A brochure also boasts an interactive cover page that includes integrated lights.

Frankfurt/Main, Germany May 16, 2013 – Numerous products based on organic and printed electronics – thin, light-weight, flexible, and inexpensive to produce – are already on the market. The leading international industry association for organic and printed electronics, the OE-A (Organic and Printed Electronics Association), supports its members and this emerging field by providing an information platform, initiating technical cooperation and by keeping the public informed about this new technology.

A Glowing Example
The new OE-A brochure and its interactive, illuminating cover page illustrates impressively how this new technology can add value to classical print products, thereby opening new areas of application for publishers, packaging companies, or advertising and marketing agencies. More than 4,000 pieces were produced by a number of OE-A members as part of the OE-A Demonstrator Project: Munich University of Applied Sciences, TU Chemnitz, DuPont Microcircuit Materials, DuPont Teijin Films, Enfucell, Fraunhofer ENAS, Fraunhofer ISIT, Schoeller Technocell and Thieme.

New Roadmap
The updated, fifth edition of the „OE-A Roadmap for Organic and Printed Electronics“ offers an overview of future product generations as well as requirements for materials and technologies. Fundamental challenges on the path to mass production – so-called “Red Brick Walls” – are also cited in the Roadmap.

“Printed electronics is already being employed in numerous industries today, for example, automotive, medical technologies and consumer electronics. With projects such as the OE-A Roadmap and Demonstrators, the OE-A facilitates cooperation among its members worldwide and illustrates the future additional potential this technology has in a very targeted approach. As the leading international exhibition and conference, LOPE-C is the perfect venue to present the results of this work to the public for the very first time“, said Dr. Stephan Kirchmeyer, Chairman of the Board of the OE-A and Head of the Business Unit Functional Coatings at Heraeus Precious Metals GmbH & Co. KG.

The new OE-A Roadmap will be introduced at LOPE-C in a plenary session, at the exhibition (OE-A booth B0/308) and during a press conference.
