Rohm & Haas to Build $20m Plant in India

Rohm and Haas have just invested $20 million into India, where they will set up local manufacturing operations in Tajola, near Bombay.

The new plant will have two divisions producing acrylic polymers for use in coatings, leathers, textiles, papers and plastics, as well as polyester, polyurethane and acrylic chemistry for a variety of adhesive, packaging and converting industries.

The new operation will have an annual capacity of between 25,000 to 35,000 tonnes.

Rohm and Haas has had sales operation in India up until now, but this is the first manufacturing operation to be located in India. The facility is being constructed in response to the 8-12% growth that the Indian market is experiencing.
