Mid-Mountain has designed a fabric with a reflective silver color called ARMATEX® SilverStar (Figure 1) in light of increasing demand for a fabric that is aesthetically pleasing.
The lightweight silicone coated fabric is offered in finished weights of 10 oz/sy and 13 oz/sy, targeting better insulation performance. The ARMATEX® SilverStar can be used as a lighter weight alternative to the conventional 17 oz/sy coated fabric employed in the fabrication of removable/reusable insulation pads and blankets. Although light in weight, SilverStar shows better thermal insulation properties, offering the potential for greater energy savings.

Mid-Mountain uses its proprietary technology to manufacture this unique silver colored fabric. Using this technology, highly reflective aluminum nanoparticles are infused into the fabric, which is then applied with a corrosion- and fray-resistant clear silicone coating over it.
SilverStar provides outstanding shielding efficiency for a range of applications without any risk of potential allergy problem caused by fiberglass or aluminum. Protection against chemicals, weather, and heat as well as elimination of UV degradation can be achieved by using the SilverStar in various configurations. The halogen-free and RoHS-compliant fabric can also be utilized in outdoor and indoor applications.
