Improving Product Quality with Levicron Ultra Precision Spindles

Levicron’s rapid, air-bearing ultra precision tooling spindles can provide substantial improvements in product quality with a robust fitting for industrial use.

The spindles are available in two different formats:

  • The ASD-H25 uses a standard industry interface (HSK25) allowing it to be used immediately saving install time and money
  • The ASD-Cx uses a collet system, which is pneumatically operated

The spindles are available in either 60,000 RPM or 80,000 RPM models to enable rapid manufacturing at improved quality levels. The thermal stability and low motion deviation, combined with a long shaft design and rapid tool changing, facilitates high quality production and a short chip-to-chip time.

Key Benefits

  • Reduce chip-to-chip time by rapid tool centering within 1 µm
  • Improve your productivity whilst reducing tool expenses
  • High powered and robust for the extremely rapid removal of materials
  • An error motion of less than 30 nm (asynchronous)
  • Achieve motions of up to 80,000 RPM with accurate operation at any speed
  • Reduce the time required to soak spindles
  • The tool achieves thermal stability in less than 5 minutes
  • Radial growth is prevented using a symmetrical thin film cooling system
  • Axial growth is prevented using a self-compensating design
  • Tool designed so that all natural frequencies fall outside the systems operating speeds

Results: 80k rpm Roughness Sa = 1.494 nm
  t/r 0.5 mm Gaussion Filter Sq = 1.861 nm
constant surface speed .08 mm St = 11.72 nm
