Particle Shape Analysis Capability to Laser Diffraction: Pi Sentinel PRO Shape Module

Vision Analytical has launched the Pi Sentinel PRO Shape Module (Pi SM) that adds the ability of extensive particle shape analysis to laser diffraction and other size-only wet suspension technologies.

The Pi SM not just finds particle size information but also reports up to 30 shape-related measures, such as size, as well as images of each quantified sample.

The Pi SM has been configured such that it can be inserted easily into the fluidics line of users’ present instrumentation. An all-in-one Windows-based computer has been provided for dedicated control of the Pi SM, which also offers a real-time display of particle images.

As soon as the analysis is completed, users can compare the particle size results from their conventional size-only instrument and the shape module.

The Pi SM was designed particularly as an add-on component to size-only measurement methods. The Pi SM can be integrated into users’ existing system, thereby allowing the measurement of same aliquot of sample for both systems.

Since a majority of the commercially available methods presume particles to be spherical in nature while reporting results, access to more shape information as well as particles images along with results from existing methods allows users to gain better insights into the particles and their performance in their final use.
