Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), also known as Photon Correlation Spectroscopy is a well established technique for determining apparent molecular size, in which laser light is shone on a solution. The concept uses the idea that small particles in a suspension move in a random. Shining a monochromatic light beam, such as a laser, onto a solution with spherical particles in Brownian motion causes a Doppler Shift when the light hits the moving particle, changing the wavelength of the incoming light.
