DuPont Opens Vespel Manufacturing Site in Singapore

DuPont Vespel parts and shapes recently celebrated the grand opening of its newest facility, Tuas Works in Singapore, for the production of high-performance parts. Diane Gulyas, group vice president, and various business leaders gave remarks to more than 100 guests. Customers, the Singapore Economic Development Board, Engineering Partners, media and employees enjoyed festivities including a traditional lion dance symbolic of good business fortune, a poster session and seminar, and plant tours.

“We’re expanding our Vespel® family with the opening of Tuas Works. Twenty-seven colleagues, under the leadership of site manager SC Moon, have joined our global network providing high-quality DuPont™ Vespel® parts and shapes, and innovative materials science solutions to customers around the world,” said Alexa Dembek, global business director, Vespel®. “We’re delighted to be able to expand the capacity and capability of our business to meet increasingly demanding customer requirements in our global market segments.”

“Singapore expands our global presence and local Asia Pacific responsiveness,” Alexa added. “Now with six production sites around the globe (USA, Belgium, Japan), and with our long-standing commitment to innovation and application development, Vespel® is strengthening our position in delivering big science, part by part, faster than ever before.”

“Industry demand for metals replacement technologies that can reduce weight while delivering comparable performance is driving a step change in our total Engineering Polymers business. DuPont invested USD 30 million in this Vespel® expanded capacity in order to support growth and meet these market needs,” said Keith Smith, vice president and general manager, DuPont Engineering Polymers.

Vespel® offers parts and shapes that meet stringent requirements for weight reduction, long service life, tailored wear and friction, chemical exposure and/or extreme temperatures. The parts and shapes are primarily used in aerospace, semiconductor, transportation and oil and gas.
