Introduction

Copper alloy UNS C42200 is a copper-zinc alloy. The excellent cold working characteristics of UNS C42200 copper alloy makes it a preferred alloy for architecture. UNS C42200 changes its color based on the alloying metals present. Recycling of brass is very cost-effective. Brasses have excellent machinability and are anti-corrosive.

Machinability

The machinability rating of UNS C42200 copper alloy is 30.

Welding

The preferred welding techniques for UNS C42200 are soldering, brazing, gas shielded arc welding, spot welding, seam welding and butt welding. Oxyacetylene welding is not recommended for UNS C42200 copper alloy.

Forging

UNS C42200 is forged at temperatures ranging between 829 and 890ºC (1525 and 1635ºF).

Hot Working

UNS C42200 copper alloy produces good results on hot working.

Cold Working

UNS C42200 deforms well on cold working.

Annealing

The temperatures ranging between 498 and 676ºC (930 and 1250ºF) are preferred for annealing UNS C42200 copper alloy.
