Fabrication and Heat Treatment
Machinability
Ametek 952 can be machined and is similar to the austenitic 300 series stainless steels in machining characteristics. It is recommended that sulfur containing cutting oils should be avoided as they can contaminate the alloy.
Forming
Ametek 952 is ductile and hence is readily formable using the conventional methods.
Forging
Forging can be performed at 1176°C (2150°F).
Welding
Welding of Ametek 952 can be performed using all the traditional welding methods.
Annealing
Annealing can be performed at 815°C (1500°F), followed by air cooling.
Cold Working
Ametek 952 can be easily cold worked.
Applications
Ametek 952 is chiefly used in many glass-to-metal sealing applications with soft glass and ceramics.
