Dow Corning Expands Research Capabilities for Silicon-Based Materials

Dow Corning, a global silicone and silicon-based technology company, has completed a new, advanced research and development center in Seneffe, Belgium. A Silicone Synthesis Technology Center and a Solar Application Center form part of the new Solar Energy Exploration and Development (SEED) research center.

N.E. Chemcat Corporation, a producer of precious metal and catalyst in Japan, has licensed the electrocatalyst technology conceptualized by researchers at the Brookhaven National Laboratory in the U.S. Department of Energy.

Ballard to Supply Hydrogen Fuel Cell Modules to Sao Paulo in Brazil

Ballard Power Systems has expressed a letter of intent (LOI) to supply 25 hydrogen fuel cell modules called FCvelocity-HD6 to be used as a power source for 25 buses in the City of Sao Paulo, the largest city in Brazil.

Researchers Produce Low-Cost Solar Paint Using Semiconducting Nanoparticles

A research team led by Prashant Kamat, who serves as an investigator at the Center for Nano Science and Technology (NDnano) of the University of Notre Dame as well as John A. Zahm Professor of Science in Chemistry and Biochemistry, has utilized quantum dots, which are semiconducting nanoparticles, to develop a low-cost solar paint for generating energy.

Natcore’s Liquid Phase Deposition Technology Passivates Black Silicon Cells

The U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has granted Natcore Technology a patent license agreement for developing and commercializing black silicon products. NREL and Natcore also intend to sign a cooperative research and development agreement for the development of commercial prototypes of NREL's black silicon inventions.
