Dow Collaboration Extends Life of Reusable Plastic Pallets 150% - Reducing Carbon Footprint and Materials Consumption

Dow today announced that Yelopack, a technology-based supply chain comprehensive management company, has adopted AFFINITY™ polyolefin elastomer (POE) in its existing plastic pallets, which will increase the life span of its pallets by five years -- more than doubling their current life span.

Innovative Next-Generation Polymers to be Featured on First Day of ACS Spring 2021

Materials that interface with the human body, plastics to sequester carbon dioxide and other innovative and sustainable polymers will be explored in the opening session of the spring meeting of the American Chemical Society (ACS). ACS President H. N. Cheng, Ph.D., is co-sponsoring the April 5 session, which will set the stage for the meeting’s theme of “Macromolecular Chemistry: The Second Century.” ACS Spring 2021 will be held online April 5-30, with live oral technical presentations hosted April 5-16 and on-demand and networking content continuing through April 30.

In support of NASA’s development of next-generation spacesuit technologies, the reliable, precision Model AS-FS Flow Switch from FCI Aerospace has been inserted into the Spacesuit Water Membrane Evaporator (SWME) -- Spacesuit Evaporation Rejection Flight Experiment (SERFE), which was installed last November aboard the International Space Station (ISS).

New, Environmentally-Friendly Electrochemical Procedure for Production of Sulfonamides

A research team at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU) in Germany has developed a completely new, environmentally-friendly electrochemical procedure for producing sulfonamides rapidly and inexpensively. Sulfonamides are used in many drugs including antibiotics and Viagra as well as in agrochemicals and dyes, which makes them an important class of molecules for the pharmaceutical and chemical industries.
