NanoOpto Secure Additional Venture Capital to Develop Optical Networking

NanoOpto Corp have just secured additional round A, venture capital funding from the Draper Fisher Jurvetson Network and the Harris and Harris Group. Matching investments were also received from existing equity partners, totalling $4 million amd taking the total finance raised to $20 million. The new funding will help NanoOpto to commercialise their products more rapidly.

The products they are working on are a new subwavelength optical elements (SOE), a new class of optical components. They are manufactured using proprietary Nanotechnology and increase the density, functionality and integration levels of optical system. While accomplishing all of this they also manage to reduce costs. Such devices can be manufactured on chips. NanoOpto have begun shipping SOE samples to prospective customers for evaluation purposes.
