Q-Cells North America proclaimed that it has entered into a supply contract with SunPower to deliver solar cells with a total capacity of 83 MW.
Q-Cells North America provides comprehensive photovoltaic solutions, including the core cell technology, power facility design, development, building and management services.
Select utility and commercial scale solar power projects will utilize Q-Cells’ solar cell technology.
The President of Utility and Power Plants at SunPower, Howard Wenger, commented that the company has a rich history of supplying highly durable and efficient solar power systems and the partnership with Q-Cells solar cells would streamline its panel production operations.
The Chief Executive Officer at Q-Cells North America, Marc van Gerven stated that the solar power market has attained a growth of over 60% per year since 2005 and is anticipated to grow to another 34 GW by 2015, according to industry professionals. The agreement with SunPower will give Q-Cells a unique opening to meet the growing worldwide demand for solar cells, van Gerven said.
