Airbus to Showcase its Cabin and Comfort Innovations at Aircraft Interiors Expo 2014

Airbus once again showcases its cabin and comfort innovations at this years’ Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, Germany – the world’s largest event dedicated to the aircraft interiors industry, in-flight entertainment, connectivity and passenger services. Visitors and media alike will be able to judge for themselves the quality of Airbus’ recent cabin offerings.

Passenger comfort has always been a major design driver at Airbus, ensuring the best possible passenger experience across all its aircraft families. Thanks to wider cabin cross-sections, Airbus aircraft offer an 18” wide seat in economy class. Visitors to the Airbus stand will be able to test and feel the space of this comfort standard in our new specially configured Cabin Comfort Demonstrator. They will experience for themselves the difference between the Airbus-standard 18-inch wide seat – the modern comfort baseline for long-haul – and the 1950s-era 17-inch industry norm.

For the A350 XWB, which will lead the cabin experience into the next decade, visitors to Airbus’ stand will also be able to catch-up on all the latest news from the A350 XWB’s rapidly progressing cabin development programme, particularly following the installation of the A350 MSN002’s cabin, as well as the A350 Customer Definition Centre inauguration. Both are being unveiled at the beginning of the week in Hamburg – Airbus’ global cabin centre of expertise.

Also at the Airbus stand, the A320 and A330 Families’ non-stop cabin innovation will be evident in the new high-definition cabin visualization. And for our flagship A380, to enhance revenue generation while maintaining its unbeatable passenger experience, Airbus is currently evaluating an innovative 11-abreast seating concept on the main-deck. Importantly, the Airbus 18” seat width standard is maintained with this A380 cabin configuration, which is presented with a full-scale mock-up for the first time to invited customers at the Expo.

Airbus’ space-efficient concepts go beyond new products: Airbus Upgrade Services will present its range of retrofit solutions and services. Our Cabin experts and executives will be available for dedicated media briefings and interview opportunities each day. The Expo’s trade media will also be hosted at our dedicated Airbus cabin press briefing to be held on Tuesday morning at 09h15.
