Hydro and Comalco Sign Massive Alumina Contact

Norsk Hydro and Comalco have signed one of the largest alumina supply contracts in the history of the aluminium industry.

Under the terms of the contract, Comalco will supply Hydro with 300,000 tons of alumina in 2005, increasing to 500,000 tons per year from 2006to 2030. There are allowances for increases at various stages of the contract.

Hydro intends to use the aluimina to feed its partly owned Australian plants at Kurri Kurri and Tomago.

Comalco will supply the alumina from its partly owned Queensland Alumina refinery and its new Comalco Alumina Refinery.
