DuPont Engineering Polymers Start Work on New Plant in Singapore

DuPont Engineering Polymers has broken ground in Singapore for new production facilities for one of its highest growth businesses – DuPont™ Vespel® parts and shapes -- to meet growing demand in Asia.

“We are investing to meet strong global demand for metals-replacement technologies that reduce weight and cost,” said William F. Weber, Vespel® global business director. “DuPont has established a global production network, including this newest site and existing facilities in the United States, Belgium and Japan, to support customers with high-quality product and delivery service wherever in the world they choose to manufacture.”

Weber said DuPont chose Singapore for the new facility due to favorable trade agreements and efficient logistics infrastructure. DuPont already makes DuPont™ Zytel® resins in Singapore. The new facility is expected to be operational in early 2008.

DuPont™ Vespel® parts and shapes are used in high-performance applications with stringent requirements for weight reduction, long service life, chemical exposure and/or extreme temperature resistance. Primary markets are aerospace, semiconductor, and transportation.
