Introduction to Materialographic Grinding and Polishing

In this on-demand webinar you will learn about the fundamentals of grinding and polishing and the applications of different grinding and polishing consumables. Using practical examples, you will be shown possible artefacts and how to prevent them.

Metallographic grinding is one of the process steps in mechanical sample preparation for subsequent microscopic examination.  The principle is based on the fact that abrasive particles in successively finer grain sizes are used to remove material from the surface until the desired result is obtained.

The purpose of metallographic polishing is to rectify the deformations caused by previous work steps (during sectioning and cutting).

The webinar is primarily aimed at beginners who are interested in the fundamentals and have little practical experience in materialography.
